Parkland Preparatory Academy, one of Chicago's most innovative and dynamic therapeutic day schools, is seeking Special Education teachers with LBS-1 certification in Morton Grove. We are specifically seeking teachers willing to work and collaborate on campus in Morton Grove- but lead their caseload of students throguh virtual means! Parkland employees have an opportunity to experience a multi-faceted and unique teaching environment with support and freedom to innovate. Our goal is to meet students where they are, and help them make the gains necessary to reintegrate into a less restrictive environment or complete their high school education! Requirements/Qualifications:

 

- Professional Educator License- LBS1 or LBS1 endorsement

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

Facilitate and assign standards based lessons in the eact courses student's need to graduate

 

- Ability to individually differentiate virtual instruction according to IEP's

 

- Strong communication and relational skills, to help lead students to success
- Engage students through multifaceted curricular materials

 

- Construct legally sound IEP's

 

- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with Parkland students, supervisors, coworkers, subordinates, supporting agencies, and a variety of external agencies.

 

Job Description:

 

- Teachers provide instructional opportunities for students to access state learning standards, achieve IEP goals, BIP goals and transition goals.

 

- Well aware of district graduation requirements.

 

- Teacher can multitask successfully throughout the work day, tend to case management needs, planning, 1-1 or small group instructional sessions, and attend IEP meetings.

 

- Teacher monitors students receiving related services weekly (Speech, Occupational Therapy, Counseling, etc.)

 

- Must accept direction, adhere to policies, procedures within the company.

 

- Must demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication and react calmly and effectively in high stress situations.

 

- Maintains ongoing progress records for all students assigned and communicate progress regularly to parents.

 

- Demonstrates preparedness for IEP meetings through the submission of drafted documents according to supervisors timeline.

 

Very important- Has the ability to support students who begin to mainstream to a less restrictive learning environment through maintaining regular contact with home school staff, District Rep. and student's parents in order to facilitate a successful permanent transition.
