We are seeking an experienced CNC Set-Up II with strong expertise in Swiss-style CNC machines to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing Swiss CNC machines to ensure efficient production of high-precision components. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of CNC set-up experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Location:

• Temporary: West Chicago, IL - 741 Winston St., West Chicago, IL
• Permanent: Northbrook, IL – 2501 Sanders Road, Northbrook, IL
• Planned relocation: Summer 2026

Shift Hours:

• 1st Shift: 6:00am to 2:30pm

Key Responsibilities

• Perform full machine set-ups on Swiss-style CNC machines, including tooling, offsets, and program verification
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications
• Load and edit CNC programs as needed to ensure proper machine operation
• Install and align tooling, fixtures, and materials to meet part specifications
• Conduct first-piece inspections and verify dimensions using precision measuring tools
• Troubleshoot machine issues and make adjustments to maintain production efficiency and part quality
• Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and operators to improve processes and reduce downtime
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production standards
• Support training and guidance for CNC operators or less experienced set-up technicians
• Maintain accurate documentation for set-ups, tooling, and process adjustments

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of CNC machine set-up experience, with significant experience on Swiss-style machines
• Strong ability to read technical drawings and GD&T
• Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, comparators)
• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a production environment
• Ability to perform complete machine set-ups with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Swiss machines such as Citizen, Star, Tsugami, or similar
• Familiarity with high-precision or medical device manufacturing
• Experience editing CNC programs (Fanuc or similar controls)
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs occasionally
• Manual dexterity to handle small precision parts and tools
