Job description

Metal Fabrication Process Engineer

Aegis is partnered with a market-leading manufacturer of tank trailers, pressure vessels, and custom process equipment serving food & beverage, chemical, oilfield, and broader industrial markets. The company has invested over $100M in a state-of-the-art facility and continues to expand a collaborative, hands-on engineering organization centered on advanced manufacturing, automation, and continuous improvement.

A day in the life

You start your morning on the production floorโ€”where youโ€™ll spend about 60% of your timeโ€”checking in with weld, cut, form, and assembly teams. A fixture needs a tweak, a cycle time looks longer than expected, and a new piece of capital equipment is being brought online this week. You dig into the details, update work instructions, and capture lessons learned so the next shift hits the ground running.

  • Partner with production, quality, and engineering to optimize metal fabrication processes: welding, cutting, forming, and assembly.
  • Develop, revise, and standardize SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Troubleshoot issues at the source and drive root cause analysis to permanent corrective actions.
  • Plan and support new equipment installations and process rollouts.
  • Create and refine 2D AutoCAD plant/line layouts and design or iterate on fixtures.
  • Analyze throughput and performance (cycle time, downtime, scrap) to target improvements.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.
What youโ€™ll bring
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Process, or related Engineering field.
  • Hands-on manufacturing engineering experience in metal fabrication, welding, machining, or industrial production.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, especially 2D layouts and fixture design.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving on the shop floor.
  • Comfort operating primarily in the manufacturing environment.
  • Effective communicator who collaborates cross-functionally.
Preferred experience
  • Deep familiarity with welding, bending, forming, and cutting processes.
  • NetSuite ERP exposure.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma tools and methods.
  • Automation/robotics or capital equipment project involvement.
  • Background in custom or low-volume production.
Why youโ€™ll love it here
  • Brand-new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
  • High-visibility role with direct, measurable impact on production.
  • Focus on custom-engineered, non-repetitive products.
  • Growing engineering team with strong long-term career potential.
  • No travel required.
Core competencies
  • Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Engineering Degree
Tools & technologies
  • 3D Modeling (AutoCAD) โ€” with emphasis on 2D layouts and fixtures
