Permanent Data Engineer C2C information

What is a permanent data engineer C2C?

Permanent Data Engineer C2C jobs refer to full-time data engineering positions where the hiring arrangement is on a 'Corp-to-Corp' (C2C) basis. In C2C contracts, a candidate works as an employee of a consulting or staffing company, which then contracts their services out to a client company. As a Permanent Data Engineer, you would be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data systems, pipelines, and databases to support organizational data needs on a long-term basis. This setup allows for both the stability of a permanent role and the flexibility of a consulting arrangement.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a permanent data engineer C2C?

To thrive as a Permanent Data Engineer (C2C), you need strong expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, SQL, and programming languages like Python or Scala, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark), cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics are highly valued. Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills help you work efficiently with cross-functional teams and translate data requirements into actionable solutions. These skills and qualifications ensure the development, optimization, and maintenance of data pipelines that support robust business decision-making.

What challenges might a permanent data engineer C2C face when working with different client teams?

As a Permanent Data Engineer working C2C (Corp-to-Corp), you may encounter challenges like adapting quickly to various clients' tech stacks and data infrastructures. Communication can be complex, as you'll often collaborate with cross-functional teams who may have differing priorities or familiarity with data engineering concepts. Ensuring data quality and consistency across disparate systems is another common hurdle. Staying organized and proactive in documenting your work will help you succeed in these dynamic environments.

What is the difference between Permanent Data Engineer C2C vs Contract Data Engineer?

AspectPermanent Data Engineer C2CContract Data Engineer
Employment TypeFull-time, permanent employment with benefitsTemporary, project-based engagement without benefits

Role Overview

As a Junior Engineer (EIT), you'll play an important role in supporting the performance and reliability of Enfinite's generation portfolio. Working alongside experienced team members, you'll gain hands-on exposure to regulatory compliance, electricity markets, operational performance, and asset data management while building the technical and business knowledge needed to grow your engineering career.

This role is ideal for a recent engineering graduate who enjoys working with data, improving processes, solving operational challenges, and collaborating with others. You'll work closely with Operations, Markets, Compliance & Assurance, Asset Management, and Finance to support business-critical reporting, analyze operational performance, and help ensure our assets operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

As you develop in the role, you'll have opportunities to take on increasingly complex responsibilities while working toward your professional engineering designation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation, validation, and submission of regulatory and operational reporting for internal stakeholders, market operators, and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain compliance records, permits, licenses, and reporting schedules, ensuring documentation is accurate, organized, and audit-ready.
  • Collect, analyze, and report on operational and market data across Enfinite’s assets, supporting dashboards, performance reporting, and decision-making.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, identify trends or anomalies, and assist with investigations into operational or market performance.
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews, including tracking findings, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining reporting tools, templates, operational procedures, and standardized documentation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather information, document processes, and support improvements in reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in site visits to build operational understanding and support field-based activities.
  • Contribute to special projects, analyses, and other engineering-related initiatives as required.
  • Support Enfinite’s safety culture by following procedures, participating in site activities, and promoting safe work practices.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel to Enfinite operational sites will be required for facility visits, audits, inspections, and project support.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the applicable provincial engineering association.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize information, work with data, and communicate technical information clearly through documentation and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Interest in developing processes, improving systems, and learning how operational decisions are supported through data.
  • Co-op, internship, or engineering experience in power generation, utilities, renewable energy, industrial operations, or a related industry is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to regulatory compliance, operational reporting, asset management, or maintenance planning is considered an asset.
  • Experience with SQL, Databricks, Power BI, SCADA, or similar data management and analytics tools is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with power generation technologies, including battery energy storage systems, renewable energy, or conventional generation assets is considered an asset.

Additional Requirements and Information

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Ability to travel to operational sites throughout Alberta and other project locations as required.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Commitment to obtaining professional engineering designation (P.Eng.) through the EIT program.
