We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Perfusionist to become part of our team at Madison.

Sign-on bonus available up to $20,000!

Essential Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Perfusion Program

  • Possession of a Wisconsin Perfusionist license (mandatory at the time of hiring)

Work Schedule:

  • Flexible hours

Job Summary:

The Perfusionist operates extracorporeal circulation equipment during medical procedures that necessitate artificial support or temporary replacement of circulatory or respiratory functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient assessments to prepare for procedures.
  • Perform perfusion and related tasks, monitoring the patient's anticoagulation, electrolyte, acid-base, and blood-gas levels, and taking necessary actions to correct any imbalances.
  • Set up and manage extracorporeal devices for temporary cardiac or pulmonary support.
  • Administer medications, anesthetics, and blood products as needed during the operation of extracorporeal devices.
  • Initiate and manage intra-aortic balloon pump therapy and operate autologous blood processing devices.
  • Ensure availability of perfusion packs, equipment, and supplies for both scheduled and emergency surgeries.
  • Perform assembly, maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of equipment while maintaining adequate supplies.
  • Document assessments, activities, and procedures accurately.
  • Maintain a constant state of alertness and operate safely.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate from a Perfusion Program

Experience:

  • No prior experience is necessary

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Regular reaching, gripping, and data entry.
  • Frequent near and far vision usage.
  • Regular hearing and speaking for effective communication, including the ability to hear alarms and machinery sounds.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional distance vision for spatial awareness and color differentiation.
  • Rarely using smell for odor detection.
  • Rare driving tasks.
