Position Description:

AtWabash,Welders performa variety oftasksvaryfrom location to location.Welders have a key role in the manufacture of carbon/ stainlesssteel and aluminum products andsubassemblies. Welders are a crucial position in the manufacturing process and are therefore expected to produce high-quality work whileupholdingproduction standards. WerequireQualification Weld Tests and, in some cases, Certification Testsdependingontheproduct line. Applicantsthatdo not passtheinitialWeld Test can be qualified by attending our own in-house Weld School,demonstratingthat they can pass the Weld Test after training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Beloware examples of the type of duties youcould beresponsiblefor:

  • Own and help improve our performance in Safety, Quality, and Delivery
  • Carbon Steel /Aluminum/StainlessSteelMIG and/orTIG weld at a level that meets quality standards
  • Readengineeringprints,weldsymbols,andfollowspecifications
  • Basic operatorpreventativemaintenance for welding relatedequipment
  • Maneuveringin tight and small spaces
  • Work atheightsof 15-20ft.
  • Performingadditionalwork assigned by the supervisor or team leader, whichmay require the employee toassistin different departments
  • Wearing approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses with side shields, respirators, hearing protection, etc.
  • Completing assigned dutiesin accordance withsafety, policies, and practices,includingyour individual safety, as well as the safety of co-workers, and the safe use of equipment in the workplace

  • Possible limited Stick Welder(SMAW)
  • Plasma Cutter / Gouging
  • Grinder / Sander
  • Respirator/ADF orPAPR Hood

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must pass Weld Tests associated with product line, prior to welding in production.
  • Mustpassrespiratorfit test.
  • Basicreading,writing,math& verbalskill.
  • Capable of following and understandingengineeringprints,specifications& instructions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanicalpartsand vibrations.The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sitessuch as the noise level in the work environment can be very loud withhigh temperatures, andpotentiallyeven exposed to outside elementsat times.Due to the work environment,all employees on the production floor must wear the necessary personal protectiveequipment (PPE). Physical Demands:

Allpersonnelmust be able to successfully communicate with fellow employees as well.Inthispositionsome employees also work in small spaces throughout their shiftandfrequentlylift and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
