The Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, testing, and commercialization of advanced mechanical systems and downhole tools supporting Wireline & Perforating technologies.
This role serves as a technical lead on new product development programs, applying advanced engineering principles to solve complex mechanical design challenges while ensuring products meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and HSE requirements. The position collaborates closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, manufacturing, testing, and field operations to deliver innovative solutions that enhance product performance and customer value.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead mechanical design and development activities for new downhole tools, product enhancements, and technology development programs.
• Establish project development plans and provide technical leadership throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Develop mechanical designs, engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and functional specifications for complex engineering projects.
• Perform engineering analysis and troubleshoot complex mechanical design challenges using analytical and simulation tools.
• Develop product verification and validation plans, including laboratory testing, qualification testing, and field evaluations.
• Apply reliability engineering principles, statistical analysis, and risk assessment methodologies to improve product performance and durability.
• Lead engineering design reviews and ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with electrical, firmware, manufacturing, materials, testing, and field engineering teams to develop integrated product solutions.
• Support prototype development, manufacturing transition, and product commercialization activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on engineering methods, design tools, and development best practices.
• Contribute to Halliburton's intellectual property portfolio through innovation, invention disclosures, patents, and technology development.
• Build strong technical relationships with customers, suppliers, universities, and the broader engineering community.
