Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin1201 W 38th StreetAustin, TX 78705Inspects, assembles and evaluates all surgical instruments and instrument sets to ensure quality, determine need for repair/replacement, validates completeness of set, and facilitates effective sterilization.Responsibilities:Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.|Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.|Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets and/or instrument tracking systems.|Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts.| Unit Description: The sterile processing department provides processing of instrumentation for the OR, L&D and acute care departments. The OR averages 60 cases daily during the week and L&D averages 20-25 deliveries per day. The department staffs three shifts 7 days per week with a combination of 8- and 10-hour shifts. Qualified candidates will have a least 2 years of experience in sterile processing and hold CRCST or CSPDT certification. Shift assignments will rotate between decontam, prep & assembly, steam and low temperature sterilization duties. May also participate in assembly of case carts.
