Job description

As a Systems Engineer at Octogen, you will take on ambitious problems at the intersection of AI, search, and commerce. You will design and maintain the data systems that power Cosimo, working on everything from structuring and traversing millions of products to building intelligent crawlers that map the ecommerce world. Your work will shape the backend infrastructure that makes product discovery feel seamless and intuitive for users. You will partner closely with engineering and product to ship features and backend capabilities that have an immediate impact on how people shop. This role is a strong fit for someone who thrives in an early-stage environment, brings deep technical curiosity, and enjoys solving hard problems while moving quickly.

  • Design, build, and operate large-scale product-ingestion pipelines, including crawlers, scrapers, and headless-browser systems
  • Develop backend services and APIs that power search, discovery, and product understanding, making thoughtful architectural decisions around cost, latency, performance, and scalability
  • Ensure reliability, observability, and performance across our data and processing infrastructure
  • Work with product and engineering to define technical direction and ship high-impact features
  • Leverage AI coding assistants (we invest ~$2k/month per engineer) to move quickly and maximize output
