Position Overview

GPT Renewables is seeking an experienced Lead Electrician (Crew Lead) to support commercial rooftop and utility-scale solar projects throughout Upstate New York, New Hampshire, and future projects in Massachusetts.

This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for leading a crew of 2–5 electricians while actively performing electrical installation work, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring all work is completed safely and to the highest quality standards.

Candidates located in or near Albany or Syracuse, NY are strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can supervise small crews while actively supporting electrical installation, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and workmanship.

Compensation: $35.00-$45.00/hour (DOE)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a crew of 2-5 electricians.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments and production goals.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and commission commercial and utility-scale solar electrical systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and construction plans.
  • Install and terminate conduit, conductors, switchgear, transformers, combiner boxes, and inverters.
  • Support installation and commissioning of SMA Sunny Central 2660 UP-US central inverters.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and all site-specific safety requirements.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform quality inspections to ensure work meets project specifications.
  • Coordinate materials, manpower, and daily work planning.
  • Mentor electricians while maintaining productivity and workmanship standards.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate project progress with management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of electrical construction experience.
  • Current New York or New Hampshire Journeyman Electrician License preferred.
  • Previous experience leading crews of 2-5 electricians.
  • Utility-scale solar and commercial electrical experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience installing and terminating switchgear, transformers, combiner boxes, inverters, conduit, and wiring.
  • Ability to read electrical blueprints, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and OSHA safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Upstate New York and New Hampshire.
  • Ability to work outdoors in active construction environments and varying weather conditions
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
