Job description

WELCOME!Position Summary

We are seeking a conscientious and adaptable Claims Adjuster to join our insurance services team. This role is responsible for managing a caseload of claims from first notification through to settlement, ensuring timely, fair and compliant outcomes. The successful candidate will investigate incidents, assess liability and value, negotiate with claimants and suppliers, and work closely with internal stakeholders to support excellent customer service and cost-effective claim resolution. Reasonable adjustments will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle new claims promptly, obtain relevant information and set appropriate expectations with claimants and other parties.

  • Investigate claims by gathering evidence, conducting interviews, liaising with medical and legal professionals and ordering specialist reports where required.

  • Assess liability and quantum in line with policy terms, company guidelines and regulatory requirements.

  • Authorise payments, agree settlements and negotiate with claimants, solicitors and third-party representatives to reach timely resolutions.

  • Manage relationships with suppliers, including repairers, loss adjusters and medical providers to control costs and maintain service standards.

  • Maintain clear, accurate and contemporaneous file notes, correspondence and claims records within the claims management system.

  • Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate concerns to the appropriate teams for investigation.

  • Follow regulatory, compliance and data protection obligations at all times and contribute to improvements in claims handling processes.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in underwriting, legal and customer service to support complex cases and business objectives.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in insurance claims handling, loss adjusting or a legal/medical claims environment preferred.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Sound analytical and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to handle competing priorities and caseloads effectively.

  • Familiarity with claims management systems and Microsoft Office applications is advantageous.

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory standards (e.g., data protection, PI, motor or household lines as applicable) desirable.

  • Ability to liaise professionally with claimants, representatives and suppliers, maintaining empathy and a customer-focused approach.

  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel to attend site visits or meetings where required.

  • Professional qualifications such as CILA, ACII or equivalent are desirable but not essential; training will be provided.

Physical & Safety Requirements
  • Use of personal computers and phones for extended periods; occasional travel to external sites for inspections or meetings.

  • Ability to attend site visits which may include uneven surfaces or outdoor environments; reasonable adjustments can be arranged.

Compensation & Schedule

Salary: $55,000 a year

Working hours: Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or holidays, if needed.
