Imaging Tech Assistant Per Diem - Quality Control

SUMMARY:

Prepares and collects prior studies and data. Acts as a liaison between Radiology Technologists and Radiologists concerning patient images and medical information.

Digitizes various radiologic scans and ensures quality control.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Answers phones and routes them accordingly.

Scans and enters accurate information into RIS applications.

Orders and prepares priors for reading by a Radiologist to compare with current study.

Initiates standards and methods for quality evaluation of images.

Labels and hangs images to be read by Radiologists according to protocol.

Maintains a working knowledge of all QC's protocols and procedures.

  • Digitizes a wide variety of films and ensures quality control (all images have been sent) before finalizing.
  • Deletes and /or transfers images from one accession number to another.
  • Alerts Radiologists regarding code/strokes
  • Notifies Rad. Ltd IT if PACS is down or any other applications not working to troubleshoot.
  • Imports outside CDs to EPIC & PICOM & PACS
  • Scans documents to On Base, EPIC, and PACS

Maintains and QC's images coming from TMC Oncology and Rincon Hospital.

  • Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values policies and standards.

Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

EXPERIENCE: Six (6) months' experience in a health-related field preferred. Medical terminology and anatomy experience or training preferred.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: None required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of healthcare records and best practices for maintaining records.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to listen and accurately interpret others' communication or instructions to take appropriate action; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers; ability to read a clock and accurately document time.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
