Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Bridge Inspector to support the construction inspection of a new three-span bridge located at an active surface mining operation in Bagdad, Arizona. This is a unique opportunity to work on a high-profile infrastructure project that combines transportation infrastructure with heavy industrial construction within one of Arizona's largest mining facilities.

This position will be based full-time on-site in Bagdad, AZ. The selected candidate will serve as AECOM's primary on-site representative, working independently while coordinating directly with the client, contractor, and project stakeholders. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, confident making field decisions, and capable of managing daily inspection activities with minimal oversight while maintaining consistent communication with AECOM's project leadership.

AECOM provides a comprehensive travel package for eligible candidates, including a company vehicle, lodging assistance, and per diem.

The initial assignment is anticipated to run from August 2026 through July 2027, with the potential for extension and opportunities to support additional bridge and transportation projects throughout Arizona.

    • Serve as AECOM's sole on-site construction inspection representative, acting as the primary point of contact for daily field activities.
    • Independently perform construction inspection for a three-span bridge project located within an active surface mining facility.
    • Monitor contractor operations to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, contract documents, and quality standards.
    • Exercise sound judgment in the field while identifying issues, documenting findings, and coordinating resolutions with project stakeholders.
    • Maintain regular communication with AECOM project managers and client representatives, providing timely updates on construction progress, schedule, and potential concerns.
    • Prepare comprehensive daily inspection reports, photographs, quantity documentation, and project records.
    • Verify materials, workmanship, and completed quantities for payment and acceptance.
    • Observe concrete placement, reinforcing steel installation, structural steel erection, foundations, drainage structures, and other bridge construction activities.
    • Participate in project meetings and effectively communicate inspection findings and recommendations.
    • Utilize electronic inspection and reporting systems to maintain accurate project documentation.
    • Follow all project safety requirements, including mine site regulations and MSHA requirements.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Why You'll Love This Opportunity

    • Work on a unique bridge project inside an active Arizona mining operation.
    • Company vehicle provided for project use.
    • Travel expenses, lodging assistance, and per diem available for eligible candidates.
    • Opportunity to transition onto future transportation and bridge projects across Arizona following project completion.
    • Join one of the world's leading infrastructure consulting firms while supporting a critical transportation improvement project.
    Qualifications

    Required Minimum Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of bridge construction methods, including reinforced concrete, structural steel, deep foundations, drainage structures, and earthwork.
    • Professional certifications such as ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, NICET, or other construction inspection certifications.
    • Experience working within active industrial, mining, or heavy construction environments while adhering to rigorous safety standards.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing daily inspection reports, documenting quantities, maintaining project records, and effectively communicating with contractors, clients, and project teams.
