Job description

Job Title: Project Manager lll Location: Monticello, MN Contract Duration: 12-Months Compensation: $100.00 - $103.00/ hourly Contractor Work Model: Onsite Per Diem: $178/day - 7 Days Per Week System One is seeking Project Manager to support capital facilities and construction projects at one of its nuclear generating facilities. This role delivers upgrades, equipment replacements, building/facility modifications, long-term plan development, and other capital improvements. Projects typically range from $100K to multi-million-dollar investment levels and require strict adherence to nuclear, regulatory, and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage full lifecycle (“cradle-to-grave”) execution of facilities, construction, and capital improvement projects.
  • Develop and maintain scopes of work, schedules, budgets, long-term project plans, and funding requests.
  • Lead project controls activities including cost tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, documentation, and reporting.
  • Interface daily with plant stakeholders: engineering, maintenance, operations, supply chain, controls, finance, and leadership.
  • Manages 5–10 concurrent projects, coordinating internal stakeholders, engineering, maintenance, construction, contractors, and vendors while ensuring delivery on scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk management requirements.
  • Source, contract, manage, and coordinate suppliers and external contractors.
  • Prepare and deliver project presentations to leadership, including authorization and funding approvals.
  • Conduct field walkdowns and plant observations for risk mitigation, constructability, and issue resolution.
  • Support risk management, quality assurance, safety compliance, and nuclear regulatory expectations.
Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of facilities, construction, utility, power plant, or commercial nuclear power project management experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects $1M.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with project controls and variance analysis.
  • Familiarity with PMI/PMBOK (Waterfall/Predictive) methodologies.
  • Ability to obtain unescorted nuclear access, which includes:
  • Federal background investigation
  • Fitness for Duty testing (drug & alcohol)
  • Compliance with NRC Access Authorization requirements
  • U.S. citizenship (required).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Construction or Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Nuclear) from an ABET accredited program.
  • Commercial nuclear or utility/power plant experience.
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle Unifier, Workday/UKG, MS Project, or Primavera P6.
Work Environment & Schedule: Primarily onsite at the assigned nuclear facility (Prairie Island or Monticello). Typical hours: 40 hrs./week, standard business hours. Outage periods require 60 hrs./week, often 12 hour days, 6–7 days/week. Ref: #192-Precision San Antonio
