Job description

What You'll Do
As a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist, you will play a vital role in delivering accurate and timely laboratory testing that supports patient diagnosis and treatment. You will perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures, ensure quality standards are met, and provide exceptional service to patients and healthcare team members. In this role, you will:
  • Accurately identify patients, specimens, and substances collected for testing and process specimens in a timely manner.
  • Provide excellent patient service by greeting and assisting patients and performing phlebotomy procedures according to established protocols.
  • Prioritize specimen processing and testing to meet patient care needs, including during urgent and emergent situations.
  • Perform a variety of laboratory tests according to established procedures, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Monitor quality control measures and ensure patient results are reported only when quality standards have been met.
  • Recognize out-of-control values, troubleshoot issues, implement corrective actions, and notify appropriate personnel when necessary.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Resolve technical problems independently when possible and seek assistance when needed.
  • Complete clerical, cleaning, and operational duties that support efficient laboratory operations.
  • Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff, medical providers, and other departments to ensure quality patient care.
  • Educate and support laboratory customers while fostering positive working relationships across the organization.
  • Perform BAT/COC collections according to protocol if certified.
  • Assist with inventory management and maintaining adequate laboratory supplies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and Section Head duties as assigned.
  • Maintain competency requirements through continuing education and professional development.
  • Assist with orientation and training of new laboratory team members.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Education

  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Licenses & Certifications
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) certification

Required Experience
  • Completion of a one- or two-year clinical training program

Preferred Experience
  • 3-5 years of laboratory experience
