Job description

Job Title: Per Diem Registered Nurse
Reports To: Practice Administrator
Location: Vascular Care Specialists, Brockton, MA
Pay Status: Per Diem / Hourly Non-Exempt
Job Description:
We are seeking an Angio Suite Registered Nurse to provide direct nursing care to our patients undergoing diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional procedures in our office-based lab. The incumbent is responsible for procedure pre-op, intra procedural patient care as well as recovery and discharge from facility.
Principal duties amp; responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Pre- Procedure:
  • Completes the pre-call checklist and calls patients prior to procedure.
  • Completes pre-procedure assessment and documentation and preps patient
  • Inserts peripheral IV and administers pre op medications and IV fluids per MD order
  • Reports any abnormal findings to MD
Intra Procedural (must be trained in conscious sedation):
  • Monitor patient and administer conscious sedation as per MD orders.
  • Documentation of procedural events.
  • Time out participation/initiation.
  • Vitals every five minutes or sooner if necessary.
  • Respond to patient needs and assess patient’s condition.
Post Procedure:
  • Complete vital signs, vascular checks
  • Performs thorough access site assessment
  • Documents any unexpected findings and interventions and promptly reports them to MD
  • Keeps family informed and updated
  • Removes IV, provides discharge instructions and discharges patient from the facility.
  • Performs post procedural call to check on patients 24 hours following the procedure.
Other responsibilities:
  • Maintain safety standards and follow all office policies and procedures
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained and functioning properly
  • Responsible for inventory of medications and supplies
  • Maintain medication and safety logs
  • Assist in other areas of the office as needed
Required Experience, Education amp; Licensure:
The incumbent must have an A.S or B.S degree in Nursing, and hold an active Massachusetts issued RN license that is free from any discipline or restrictions in practice, along with a minimum of two (2) years direct experience in Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology. Must be experienced in IV insertion, conscious sedation and be certified in both BLS and ACLS.
