Per Diem Remote Recovery Coach information

What is a per diem remote recovery coach?

A Per Diem Remote Recovery Coach is a professional who provides support and guidance to individuals recovering from substance use disorders or mental health challenges, working remotely and on an as-needed (per diem) basis. They help clients set recovery goals, develop coping strategies, and access resources, usually through phone or video calls. This flexible role allows coaches to work with multiple clients or organizations without a full-time commitment. Their guidance is rooted in lived experience, specialized training, or certification in recovery coaching. The remote aspect enables them to assist clients regardless of location, making recovery support more accessible.

How does a per diem remote recovery coach typically collaborate with clients and other healthcare professionals while working remotely?

As a Per Diem Remote Recovery Coach, you'll primarily engage with clients through scheduled virtual meetings, phone calls, and secure messaging platforms. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals, such as therapists, case managers, and medical staff, is common to ensure a holistic approach to each client's recovery plan. Communication is often managed through electronic health records or secure team channels, and flexibility is key to adapting to client needs and varying schedules. Building rapport remotely can be challenging but is essential for client progress, and ongoing professional development is encouraged to stay current with best practices.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a per diem remote recovery coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Per Diem Remote Recovery Coach, you need a solid understanding of addiction recovery principles, relevant training or certification (such as Certified Recovery Coach or Peer Recovery Specialist), and lived experience in recovery. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, secure communication tools, and electronic documentation systems is typically required. Exceptional listening skills, empathy, and the ability to motivate and build trust with clients are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure coaches can effectively support individuals remotely, promote sustained recovery, and maintain client safety and confidentiality.
