Per Diem Outpatient Registered Nurses (RNs) are licensed nurses who work on an as-needed basis in outpatient settings such as clinics, ambulatory care centers, or physician offices. Unlike full-time or part-time staff, per diem RNs have flexible schedules and are called in to fill staffing gaps due to absences, increased patient volume, or specific needs. They perform typical nursing duties such as patient assessments, administering medications, and providing education, but their hours and shifts can vary widely based on the facility's requirements.

To thrive as a Per Diem Outpatient RN, you need a current RN license, clinical expertise in outpatient procedures, and strong assessment skills, often supported by experience in ambulatory or clinic settings. These skills and qualities ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care in a variety of outpatient settings where needs and routines can change rapidly.

How does scheduling and work-life balance typically function for a per diem outpatient RN?

As a Per Diem Outpatient RN, you have the flexibility to pick up shifts based on your availability, which can be ideal for maintaining work-life balance or accommodating other commitments.
