What is a Per Diem Onfleet driver?

A Per Diem Onfleet Driver is an independent contractor or employee who makes deliveries using the Onfleet platform on a flexible, as-needed basis. 'Per diem' means 'per day,' so these drivers are typically scheduled or paid on a daily basis rather than as full-time employees. They deliver goods for companies using Onfleet's delivery management software, which helps coordinate routes and track deliveries. This role is ideal for individuals seeking flexible work hours and the ability to choose when they work.

What is the typical work schedule and level of flexibility for a Per Diem Onfleet driver?

Per Diem Onfleet Drivers generally enjoy a high degree of flexibility, as shifts are assigned or accepted on an as-needed basis rather than following a fixed weekly schedule. This arrangement is ideal for those seeking supplemental income or balancing other commitments, but it also means that work volume can vary depending on company demand and route availability. Drivers may need to be responsive to last-minute requests and adapt to changing delivery routes or schedules. Clear communication with dispatchers and punctuality are key for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Per Diem Onfleet driver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Per Diem Onfleet Driver, you need a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and familiarity with local routes. Proficiency with the Onfleet delivery management app, GPS navigation systems, and sometimes a background check are typically required. Strong time management, reliability, and customer service skills help drivers excel in this flexible, independent position. These abilities ensure timely, accurate deliveries and positive customer experiences, which are vital for success in the role.
