Job description

Nurse Practitioner Per Diem | Boston Childrens Hospital

Works in a supportive role to deliver pediatric comprehensive health assessments to pediatric patients on the inpatient post acute care unit at Franciscan Children's. Demonstrates a high level of autonomy and expert skill in the diagnosis and treatment of complex responses of individual, families, and communities to actual or potential health problems. Formulates clinical decisions to manage acute and chronic illnesses and promote wellness.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs history and physical examinations, writes orders and reports
  • Assesses and treats patients under the supervision of a physician
  • Orders non-invasive laboratory and diagnostic tests
  • Reviews laboratory studies
  • Communicates patient information to all necessary staff and family members
  • Assists in other outpatient or inpatient services as directed by supervising physician
  • Dictates admission summaries, discharge summaries of inpatient stays, summaries of outpatient evaluations, and letters to referring physicians and agencies, and other pertinent documentation
  • Attends rounds and writes progress notes. Notifies physician of patient's condition, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents
  • Performs routine procedures after receiving training and demonstrating competence to be determined by the supervising physician
  • Participates in activities to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Participates in committee activity as assigned
  • Successfully completes Hospital and department specific orientation and ongoing mandatory education requirements
  • Other essential duties may be assigned as necessary to the operation of the department

Education And Experience

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Experience working with children with complex special health care needs is preferred, but not mandatory
  • NP Experience preferred

Status: Part-Time

Standard Hours Per Week: 1

Pay Range: $50.53-$80.845 Hourly
