Per Diem Laser Rn information

What is a per diem laser RN?

A Per Diem Laser RN is a registered nurse who specializes in performing or assisting with laser procedures on a flexible, as-needed basis rather than as a full-time employee. These nurses work in settings such as dermatology clinics, cosmetic surgery centers, or hospitals, providing care before, during, and after laser treatments. Their responsibilities may include patient assessment, operating laser equipment, ensuring patient safety, and educating patients about post-procedure care. Per diem roles offer flexibility, allowing nurses to choose their shifts and work with multiple employers if desired. This position requires a nursing license and may also require additional certifications in laser safety and operation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a per diem laser RN?

To thrive as a Per Diem Laser RN, you need an active RN license, experience in laser procedures, and a solid understanding of dermatologic or aesthetic nursing care. Familiarity with different laser systems, safety protocols, and current certifications in laser technology are typically required. Excellent patient communication, adaptability to varying schedules, and attention to detail help set top candidates apart. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring patient safety, delivering effective treatments, and providing high-quality care in a flexible, fast-paced environment.

How does the flexible scheduling of a per diem laser RN impact collaboration with the core nursing and medical teams?

As a Per Diem Laser RN, you’ll often work variable shifts based on the facility’s needs, which can mean collaborating with different team members across departments during each shift. While this flexibility is a major advantage, it also requires strong communication skills to quickly integrate with the team, stay updated on patient care plans, and ensure seamless handoffs. Many per diem nurses find that building relationships and staying proactive about communication helps them adapt and contribute effectively, even with an irregular schedule. This adaptability is valued by employers and can lead to future full-time opportunities.

  • Start of Care (SOC) Visit:
    $350.00
  • Recertification Visit: $100.00
  • Routine / PRN Visit: $75.00

About the Role

Newport Hospice is seeking highly skilled, compassionate, and detail-oriented Registered Nurses to join our team in a Per Diem capacity. We are a high-traffic hospice provider dedicated to clinical excellence and unwavering compliance with all CMS Conditions of Participation (CoPs).
We provide end-of-life care with grace and dignity. If you are a flexible clinician who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the critical nature of comprehensive clinical assessments, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities & Clinical Requirements

As a Per Diem RN representing Newport Hospice, you are the face of our clinical excellence. In strict adherence to CMS Conditions of Participation, every visit (SOC, Recertification, and Routine/PRN) is a full clinical encounter requiring:

  • Comprehensive Assessment:
A complete, full head-to-toe physical assessment of the patient.
  • Medication Management: A full and accurate medication reconciliation, including pharmacy coordination and order review.
  • Plan of Care (POC): Thorough review, creation, and updating of the patient’s Plan of Care.

Additional duties include:

  • Regulatory Compliance:
Ensuring all documentation meets LCD (Local Coverage Determination) guidelines and California state hospice regulations.
  • Legal & Ethics (For SOC): Facilitating the signing of consents and providing a thorough Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to patients and families.
  • Clinical Communication: Direct contact with MDs for initial and ongoing orders, symptom management, and seamless coordination with the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG).
  • Documentation: Timely and precise submission of charting. We prioritize "documenting as you go" to ensure promptness and accuracy.

Visit Expectations

We believe in quality over speed. A typical Start of Care (SOC) visit with Newport Hospice involves:

  • 2 to 3 Hours:
On-site for the physical assessment, consents, and family education.
  • 1.5 Hours: Dedicated to the comprehensive Plan of Care (POC) charting and coordination.

Qualifications

  • Active RN License:
Current and unencumbered in the state of California.
  • Hospice Expertise: Deep understanding of hospice regulations, LCD guidelines, and nursing requirements.
  • Skill Set: Exceptional clinical assessment skills and the ability to manage complex symptoms at the end of life.
  • Communication: Elite verbal and written communication skills for interacting with families, physicians, and our internal team.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in EMR systems for accurate, timely documentation.
  • Flexibility: Ability to cover various locations within our service area.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Highly Competitive Flat Rates:
Earn $350 per SOC, $100 per Recertification, and $75 per Routine/PRN visit (with bonus discussions available for long-distance availability).
  • Ultimate Flexibility: Control your own schedule and define your service areas.
  • Unwavering Support: Access to a leadership team that values compliance, patient advocacy, and clinical integrity above all else.

Join Newport Hospice in delivering care that honors the dignity of every patient we serve.
