Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology
Location: Bethesda, MD
Pay Rate: $45-$50/hour
Position Type: Contract-to-Hire

NurseAmerica is seeking an experienced and compassionate Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join a leading outpatient oncology and hematology practice in Bethesda, MD. This Contract-to-Hire opportunity is ideal for nurses with oncology and infusion experience who are passionate about delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered cancer care.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, laboratory results, treatment response, and psychosocial needs
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
  • Prepare and administer infusion therapies, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, medications, and blood products in accordance with established protocols
  • Perform venipuncture and access, maintain, and troubleshoot implanted ports, PICC lines, and central venous access devices
  • Monitor patients during treatment and respond appropriately to adverse reactions or changes in condition
  • Collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers regarding symptom management and treatment-related concerns
  • Educate patients and caregivers regarding treatment plans, medications, side effects, and self-care strategies
  • Provide emotional support and advocacy throughout the patient care journey
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Coordinate treatment authorizations, scheduling, referrals, and follow-up care
  • Assist with patient triage, telephone assessments, and care coordination
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, infection control, chemotherapy safety, and hazardous drug handling guidelines
  • Maintain treatment areas, supplies, and equipment according to quality and safety standards
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, LPNs, and other clinical team members
Infusion-Specific Responsibilities
  • Program, monitor, and manage ambulatory infusion pumps
  • Educate patients and caregivers on infusion pump use and home care instructions
  • Monitor infusion equipment and ensure proper documentation of usage and maintenance
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Active Maryland RN License or Compact RN License
  • Current BLS Certification
  • 3-5 years of Registered Nurse experience
  • Minimum 1 year of Oncology Nursing experience preferred
  • Infusion Nursing experience strongly preferred
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider Card preferred
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and organizational skills
