Position Details

We are looking for an RN who can put on many hats within a Long-Term Care Pharmacy.

Role: Immunization Clinic Nurse

Chesapeake Regional Rx is seeking a per-diem RN who can administer vaccinations and provide education as needed.

  • Assisting with setup and break-down of wellness/immunization clinics.
  • Transporting vaccine(s) and sharps
  • Assisting with completion of immunization consent forms
  • Proficient in intramuscular injection technique and subcutaneous injection technique
  • Administer vaccines (per manufacturer instructions) and educates clients and caregivers about age-specific immunizations, precautions/contraindications, and possible adverse reactions
  • Transport of vaccine(s) and maintaining the cold chain
  • Proper biohazardous waste transport and disposal
  • Maintains appropriate infection control standards and precautions
  • Maintains compliance with wellness specific policies and procedures
  • Emergency management, i.e., adverse reactions, anaphylaxis.
  • Reporting of incidents and/or injuries/needle sticks
  • Proper biohazardous waste process/protocols
  • Proper utilization of PPE
Attitude/Skills
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide expected standards of care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age-appropriate considerations of patients.
  • Provides care directly to patients and in collaboration with other health care team members. Demonstrates organizational skills that maintain safe delivery of the standard of care for assigned patients/families; manages own assignment by delegating effectively based on patient needs and skills of team members.
  • Administers medications and treatments according to policy/procedure. Recognizes acute changes in patient status and intervenes appropriately.
  • Adheres to practice guidelines specific to the care setting: a) utilizes standards, policies, and procedures to support clinical decision-making, b) seeks guidance from appropriate resources c) demonstrates knowledge of performance improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • DE licensed Registered Nurse
  • Ability to Immunize
  • BLS/CPR required through the American Heart Association
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; effective interpersonal skills.
  • 2-3 years nursing experience
  • Ability to work independently
