Job Posting Information
The Risk Management Specialist performs technical work investigating and managing workers' compensation and liability claims for Lancaster County. This role is responsible for claim handling from intake through resolution while supporting the County's insurance and risk management programs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate accidents, claims, and losses.
  • Set up and manage claim files; maintain data in claims systems.
  • Review medical reports, coordinate with providers, and calculate/issue benefits.
  • Support administration of insurance programs (workers' comp, liability, property, auto).
  • Partner with the County Attorney's Office on claims and litigation support.
  • Handle subrogation and recovery of funds owed to the County.

Desirable Knowledge, Abilities & Skills/Desirable Training & Experience
  • Knowledge of workers' compensation, liability, and auto claims.
  • Understanding of insurance principles.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external partners.

Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements
Graduation from a high school or equivalent with college level coursework in insurance, business administration or related field with some experience administering and/or adjusting workers' compensation, property, or liability claims, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills.
