Job description

Per Diem Speech-Language Pathologist
Rome Health is rapidly expanding and is seeking a Per Diem Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team. This position provides the opportunity to work with patients across a variety of care settings, including inpatient acute care, sub-acute rehabilitation, long-term care, and outpatient therapy.
Optional weekend on-call coverage is also available for per diem staff.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' speech, language, communication, and swallowing abilities using standardized assessments and clinical evaluation.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Provide therapy to improve speech production, articulation, voice quality, and overall communication.
  • Assist patients in improving reading and writing skills when appropriate.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic exercises to improve swallowing function and strengthen muscles involved in swallowing.
  • Educate and counsel patients and families regarding communication and swallowing disorders and appropriate coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of evaluations, diagnoses, treatment progress, and changes to treatment plans.
  • Complete final evaluations and discharge documentation when patients complete therapy.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology - Required
Experience
  • Completion of an accredited degree program in Speech-Language Pathology - Required
  • 2-3 years of experience preferred
  • Experience in acute care, rehabilitation, long-term care, or outpatient settings is a plus.
License & Certification
  • Current New York State license to practice Speech-Language Pathology
