Job description

Program Specialist

Give leadership to the development and maintenance of quality Scouting programs located in underserved communities in accordance with the Scouting America's Mission Statement:

The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

A Program Specialist will engage Scouts in active and imaginative activities and will draw in and manage parents and potential leaders. Program Specialists need to be self-starters, self-motivated, be able to work independently and have a desire for community involvement.

Job Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years of age

Must pass a background check and submit required PA clearances.

Preferably a College Student or Graduate, (Excellent for Education Majors)

Location: Roosevelt Elementary School 430 E Washington Lane, Philadelphia PA 19144

  • 15-20 hours per week of meetings/programming (after school hours for example 2 - 5pm, plus some evening meetings) You will oversee 10 – 15 Scouts per day.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • You will be provided with a Program Specialist Delivery System Manual and other support materials. You will need to familiarize yourself with and follow the policies and procedures of the Cradle of Liberty Council and Scouting America.
  • You will be required to attend a Program Specialist Orientation, staff meetings, mandatory training sessions, and other meetings assigned by your staff leader.
  • You will be provided with program planning materials, supplies and a syllabus. If needed, revise or develop additional weekly program plans to meet the needs of your Scouts.
  • You are required to wear a Scout uniform shirt or staff shirt at all meetings and activities involving youth.
