Job description

ABOUT US
Birch Bark Veterinary Clinic is a growing small animal practice focused on providing compassionate medicine while creating a supportive and positive environment for both our clients and team members. Formerly MacDonald Veterinary Services, our clinic recently rebranded and continues to expand our services, technology, and team. We are proud to offer advanced services including dental radiographs, ultrasound, orthopedic surgeries, tonometry, advanced dentistry, and in-house diagnostics — while still maintaining the close-knit, community-focused feel of a local veterinary hospital. We believe in teamwork, kindness, continued learning, and creating an environment where employees feel supported and valued. Whether you are experienced in veterinary medicine or just beginning your journey, we are excited to help team members grow their skills and confidence. Our team works hard, supports one another, laughs often, and truly cares about the animals and people we serve every day.
VETERINARY ASSISTANT
At Birch Bark Veterinary Clinic, we are looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. Experience is preferred, but not required — we are willing to train the right person who is dependable, compassionate, motivated, and excited to learn. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in growing within veterinary medicine. We proudly support continued education and can serve as a Penn Foster externship site for eligible students pursuing veterinary technician education.
Responsibilities may include assisting doctors and technicians during appointments, treatments, procedures, surgery, and dentistry; patient restraint and handling; preparing exam rooms and treatment areas; assisting with radiographs, dental radiographs, ultrasound, tonometry, and diagnostics; collecting and preparing lab samples; entering medical notes and charges accurately; client communication and education; and helping maintain a clean, organized, and efficient hospital environment.
We are looking for someone who works well in a fast-paced environment, communicates professionally and kindly, enjoys teamwork, and is willing to jump in wherever needed to help the team and our patients succeed.
Veterinary experience is preferred but not required. Certification is not required. Penn Foster students and individuals looking to start a long-term career in veterinary medicine are encouraged to apply.
Benefits include employee pet discounts, hands-on training opportunities, continued growth within the practice, and the opportunity to learn advanced skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.
