Job description

We are a registered investment adviser (RIA) specializing in defined contribution (DC) retirement plans. You are an experienced accounting professional seeking a new career opportunity.

This position will be based in our Chicago office with a hybrid work schedule. Fully remote may be an option for an exceptional candidate.


Job Summary:

The Accountant II/III works under the direction of the Director of Finance and plays a key role in supporting the department’s day-to-day operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and contributing to the overall financial integrity of the firm.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Calculate, create, reconcile, and verify company accounts receivable transactions to maintain accurate accounting records
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure any issues are resolved
  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget, and analyze quarterly variances against actual results
  • Contribute to year-end reporting and annual audit
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls; maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of procedures and processes
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of integrity and discretion
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned


Qualifications & Experience:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required
  • 3-7 years professional accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and standard accounting practices
  • Experience with general ledger functions, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes
  • Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data analysis)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision
