Job description

Woolwich Community Health Centre (WCHC) is currently recruiting for a Youth Peer Worker to support the Wellesley Youth Centre's activities. This is a casual contract position to support staff during the youth Centre activities and works up to 10 hours a week at $21 per hour. This contract will be from September 8, 2026 to December 31, 2026.

We are looking for a Youth Peer Worker who shares experience with children/youth by drawing on their own lived experiences and provide emotional and practical assistance to the Youth Centre program participants. For the Youth Peer Worker, the role can also be a source of personal growth, confidence, and leadership development.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist staff with program activities, events, and drop-in sessions.
  • Assist staff with contacting parents and youth
  • Assist with room set up and clean up.
  • Demonstrate leadership by taking responsibility for certain activities at the Youth Centre.
  • Manage multiple competing demands at one time.
  • Create a positive rapport with the children/youth attending the Youth Centre's programs.


Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, college, or university
  • Interest in working with children and youth ages 5-18.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands.
  • Commitment to working as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to teach activities, lead groups, and resolve issues appropriately.
  • Organizational skills.
  • COVID-19 vaccination required.
  • Current First Aid and CPR an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of children/youth, including afterschool hours and evening.
