Position Description
The PACU Registered nurse position is responsible for direct nursing care of patients in the pre-operative, post anesthesia care unit and will rotate into the pain management procedure room. The PACU Registered Nurse is knowledgeable in all areas of perioperative nursing, post anesthesia recovery, pain, and patient teaching.
Requirements
  • Current unencumbered CT RN license.
  • PACU/Critical Care experience preferred.
  • Ambulatory surgery center experience a plus.
  • Knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties of a Pre-op/PACU nurse.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required. PALS within 3 months of hire.
  • A knowledge of aseptic technique, anesthetic agents and complications, and the ability to handle emergency situations in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and have an ability to work compatibly with all physicians and staff.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English.
  • Possess strong organizational skills, and a clear understanding of the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an ambulatory surgery center.
