Job description
UVA Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join Pediatric Otolaryngology, a busy, high-volume pediatric ENT practice within an academic medical center. This is an opportunity to build deep specialty expertise , work closely with pediatric ENT surgeons and APP colleagues, and help children and families navigate common and complex otolaryngology needs with confidence, compassion, and clinical excellence.
The Role
In this ambulatory APP role, you will evaluate and manage pediatric patients with a range of otolaryngology conditions in a collaborative, specialty-focused clinic environment. You will be part of a team that values thoughtful assessment, efficient clinical flow, strong communication , and patient and family-centered care.
This position is especially well-suited for an APP who enjoys pediatric care, wants to grow within a subspecialty, and is energized by a practice setting that combines high patient volume, procedural learning, and close partnership with surgeons . This is primarily a daytime, ambulatory clinic opportunity, with future potential to evolve into a more hybrid role that may include inpatient responsibilities alongside another APP.
In an average day, you may:
- Independently evaluate pediatric ENT patients, perform histories and physical examinations, and develop treatment plans.
- Diagnose and treat common pediatric otolaryngology conditions in the ambulatory clinic setting.
- Identify patients who may require surgical intervention and help facilitate timely progression to surgery when appropriate .
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative education and management for patients and families.
- Collaborate with attending surgeons, APP colleagues, referring providers, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests and office-based procedures within scope .
- Learn and develop procedural skills such as nasal cauterizations, foreign body removals, and other common ENT procedures .
- Maintain accurate , timely EHR documentation and support clinic throughput, productivity, and quality goals.
- Contribute to quality improvement and the continued growth of the pediatric ENT service line.
Advanced Practice Provider Scope of Practice:

- Provides expert evidence-based, top-of-scope care in their clinical practice
- Acts as part of a specialty team, collaborating with other clinicians as appropriate

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
Experience: Department and unit specific.
Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The pay range for this role is $116,123.00 - $171,163.20 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
