Job description

Oakland School District is accepting applications for a Middle School Health/PE teacher. This position will provide 5 periods of Health/PE and 1 elective period of instruction to seventh/eighth grade students along with other duties as assigned by principal. POSITION IS OPEN UNTIL FILLEDEstimated start date: August 24, 2026 Essential duties and responsibilities are: to Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.

Plan and implement a program of study following state and district goals/curriculum that meets the individual needs and development of students. Assess and report the performance of students on a regular basis and maintain such records as required by law, district and building policy. Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues.

Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning district curriculum and instructional methods, goals and objectives. Serves as a role model to students in the areas of appearance, actions, behaviors and interpersonal interactions with peers. Attends and participates in faculty meetings, committees, school programs, open houses and in service activities as directed.

Directs and assigns activities of assigned instructional assistants, volunteers and other paraprofessionals. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students, parents and staff. Perform such other tasks as assigned by Administration.

Successful applicant will be familiar with Positive Behavior Support strategies. Applicant must hold a current Oregon Teaching License with proper health/PE endorsements; multiple endorsements preferred; energetic team player; positive classroom manager; preference given to those candidates with practical and working knowledge of PBIS (Positive Behavior Support) strategies.Oakland School District is on a 4 day school week. Mon-Thurs, 7:30 am-4:15 pm, 2 Fri's/month for 6 hrs/day
