Job Title: Surgical Technician



Opportunity:

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing company at the ground level. We are looking for an individual with the ability to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include assisting the surgical teams during operative procedures, assuring the operating suite is adequately prepared for procedures and sterilizing all surgical instruments. Travel between multiple ambulatory surgery centers is required. This is a hands-on role for a growing organization.



Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the operating room, surgical suite, supplies, and equipment for upcoming surgery
  • Ensure the operating room meets standards for safety and infection control.
  • Assists the surgeon with surgical procedures by passing instruments and anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
  • Verify sterilization of all equipment and the integrity of sterile packing.
  • Works with a Charge RN to monitor supplies and maintenance of equipment.
  • Performs work related tasks and projects as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Requirements:

Candidate Qualities & Qualifications:

  • Current BLS Certification required.
  • Current certification as a surgical technologist or proof of equivalent training.
  • Previous experience in operating rooms is preferred, but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of computer and EHR systems.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; works well in group problem-solving situations
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations



Supervision Received: Reports to ASC Executive Director


Typical Physical Demands: Typical Physical Demands: This position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity along with eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for an extensive period of time. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to push and pull equipment and a gurney weighing 200 + pounds. Requires good visual acuity and hearing in normal range. Ability to handle stressful situations appropriately. May be required to work irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.



Typical Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a surgical environment.
