Job description

Department: Medical Surgical Acute Unit 4

Shifts Available: Varied 

Employment Type: Per Diem (PD / PRN) 

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center - Gadsden, AL 

We are seeking a Medical Surgical CNA, also referred to Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Med-Surg CNA. A Med Surg CNA will assist with patient care by supporting daily activities, mobility, feeding, and vital signs while monitoring for any changes. Additionally, the Med Surg CNA, will help nurses by maintaining supplies, assisting with wound care, and ensuring a clean, safe environment. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.


  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, and toileting 
  • Help with mobility, including turning, repositioning, and transferring patients to prevent skin breakdown, you may also feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake/output 
  • Take and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration), observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to nurses, you may also help with wound care under the direction of an RN 
  • Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms, ensure the environment stays clean and safe 
  • Assist in transporting patients within the hospital 

1. Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required.

2. Current BLS within 30 days of hire and maintain current.

3. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.

4. Minimum six months’ previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
