Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or HiSET required.
  • RQI Provider (BLS) within seven (7) days of hire/transfer or before independent patient care, whichever comes first, required.
  • Must successfully complete all onboarding education and competency requirements.
  • Must employ critical thinking skills, respond to changing workloads in a positive and professional manner, and prioritize and seek assistance as appropriate.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Possess and maintain computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn other software as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Post high school education or vocational training in healthcare.
  • Previous healthcare experience in roles such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, Phlebotomist, Patient Care Technician (PCT), Medical Receptionist, Prior Authorization Specialist, Scribe, Caregiver, Home Health Aide, Patient Access Representative, or other healthcare-related positions.
  • Medical office experience and medical terminology training.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, basic laboratory values, pharmacology, infection control practices, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Experience working in a clinical, ambulatory, hospital, long-term care, or other healthcare setting.

Job Specific Duties
  • Prepares rooms, equipment, and supplies as indicated by examination requirements and patient needs.
  • Receives and prepares patients for examination and treatment according to practice procedures and protocols.
  • Obtains and records patient histories, vital signs, and laboratory specimens. Accurately documents patient information in the medical record according to policy and procedure.
  • Assists physicians and advanced practice clinicians with examinations, treatments, procedures, and diagnostic testing.
  • Assists with scheduling, patient registration, referrals, prior authorizations, and other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Collects patient information from incoming calls and patient portal messages and routes information appropriately.
  • Cleans and disinfects equipment according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Attends required meetings, training sessions, and educational activities.
  • May perform scribe duties upon successful completion of approved training and competency validation.
  • Promotes excellence through high standards of patient care, professionalism, and service.
