REPORTS TO: School Nurse
SUPERVISES: None
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
COMPENSATION: $20/hour
WORK CALENDAR: 185 Days
STANDARD HOURS: 7 Hours/Day, 35 Hours/Week
CORP STATUS: Classified
PERF: CPCSC is a Non-PERF District 
POSITION PURPOSE
Under the direction of a licensed healthcare provider (school nurse), the Certified Medical Assistant assists the Pleasant Crossing Elementary School nurse with coordination of student specific procedures. The CMA helps maintain a safe learning environment within the Essential Skills classrooms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Works effectively within a team environment
  • Maintains student confidentiality
  • Implements Individualized Education Program (IEP) and student health plans
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, including listening
  • Navigates doctors' orders to understand proper care for students
  • Physically lifts and/or transfers students while maintaining safety
  • Assists with student restrooming/toileting/diapering
  • Safely and accurately prepares and administers medications and injections under the supervision of a licenses healthcare provider (school nurse)
  • Administers feedings to students, via G-Tube
  • Performs basic vital signs of students
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
  • Other related duties as assigned 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • Certificate of Completion from a Medical Assisting Program
  • Medical Assistant Certification Required (CMA (AAMA), NCMA (NCCT), RMA (AMT), CCMA (NHA), and NRCMA (NAHP)
  • One year of experience in healthcare preferred, but not required
  • Strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and upmost adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA laws/guidelines
