Overview

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for ensuring seamless execution within the assigned area of Ichor’s supply chain. The Supply Chain Manager will participate in setting the strategic direction of the supply chain organization and passionately drive continuous improvements that exceed internal and external customer expectations. This versatile, broad based, highly matrixed operations role is an opportunity to develop and own a supply chain that optimizes delivery, cash flow, and the cost of goods sold for assigned commodities, products, or projects. Candidates will support key initiatives in one or more of three key functions: Supplier Management, Supply Chain Project Management, and New Product Development. This role has a primary focus on managing global Electro-Mechanical Assembly (EMS) suppliers, printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication, PCBA, components, and cable/wire harness assemblies.

Roles & Responsibilities

Supplier Management

  • Develops and executes commodity strategies specific to EMS suppliers including PCB fabrication, PCBA, and cable/wire harness assemblies.
  • Leads supplier selection and consolidation across EMS partners, including contract manufacturers and direct suppliers.
  • Evaluates supplier technical capabilities including DFM/DFX, test strategies, and manufacturing process controls for PCB and cable assemblies.
  • Drives should-cost modeling and cost breakdown analysis for PCB (layer count, materials, yield) and cable assemblies (labor content, connectors, routing complexity).

  • Manages key supplier relationships, focusing on cost optimization, continuity of supply and resolution of problems.

  • Ensures adequate capacity and scalability within EMS suppliers, including fabrication, assembly, and test capacity for PCBAs and cable assemblies, aligning forecasts and managing lifecycle (NPD to EOL). Defines sourcing contracts/supply agreements, ensuring alignment with flow-down requirements, capacity, cost, and commercial needs.

  • Implements Demand Driven MRP (DDMRP) programs such as Kanban and safety stock replenishment contracts, including analysis, coordinates ERP system setup, and ensures contractual alignment.

  • Oversees supplier management process, improving key supplier performance metrics through audits, qualifications, scorecards, and improvement plans.

Supply Chain Project Management

  • Identifies or is assigned to lead continuous improvement opportunities across the global supply chain

  • Drives process improvements and resolves complex supply chain issues.

  • Leads supply chain readiness for EMS transfers, dual sourcing, and regionalization strategies (e.g., Asia ↔ North America shifts).
  • Drives resolution of complex issues related to PCB fabrication yield, component constraints, and cable assembly bottlenecks.

  • Other duties as assigned.

New Product Development

  • Ensure NPD BOM items are purchased at lead time through, coordinating demand load with Business Units and Planning (MRP, Independent demand or Indirect Purchase Requisitions)

    • Provides sourcing direction and coordinates RFQ packages with the support of Buyers and Global Supply Managers

    • Coordinates PO tracking through Buyers

    • ECO analysis, approval, and coordination of implementation to the supply chain for new products

  • Ensure pre BOM alignment on product structure and related sourcing strategy for commodities and lead times are agreed on and understood by the product development team and documented as the plan of record

  • Participates in defining engineering milestones for design completion (aligned to build plan) (sub-assemblies, commodities, and cost reduction opportunities) to enable low cost regional sourcing

  • Works with Manufacturing Engineering to set up BOM structures and sourcing parameters

  • On assigned products, responsible for tracking and driving:

    • Cost reduction plans and actions including optimization of cost for turnkey assemblies

    • Develops product specific cost reduction roadmaps

  • Understands and can demonstrate, diagram, and measure all value-add activities in a products value chain

Ensure an organizational culture of transparent communication, early visibility / escalation of issues, and urgency for corrective action by emphasizing root cause understanding and continuous improvement.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor degree in business or Engineering. MBA preferred

  • Prefer a candidate that has experience across several operational disciplines in a new product development environment. Candidate will possess extensive experience in a minimum of two skills in the following areas: procurement, planning, production management, master scheduling, factory engineering, logistics and program management.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in supply chain or NPD related function & 10 years operations experience preferred

  • Strong understanding of contract manufacturing environment and management of global commodity strategies through a third party provider

  • Proven record of managing and driving Continuous Process Improvement activities. Strong analytical skills, ability to identify root cause for action/resolution
