Job description

We are The Electronic & PCB Design Engineer, as a member of our hardware team of experts, contributes to the design, development, and deployment of RFID Applications for our retail customers.
With moderate supervision, the successful candidate works creatively in a team-oriented environment to design solutions, meet deadlines, and complete challenging engineering assignments by demonstrating competency in electronics technology and PCB design.
The PCB Design/Layout portion of this position involves utilizing preliminary schematics, part lists, board function descriptions, configuration options, and other early design information to develop a functional, manufacturable, and cost-effective PCB design. The candidate will collaborate with circuit designers, electrical and mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and other design and production staff to create comprehensive documentation packages for PCB fabrication, assembly, and testing. Effective communication with both internal and external teams is essential.
Job Duties:
  • Research solutions to complex technical problems under specific performance, size, power and cost constraints, recommend viable and cost-effective approaches, select key components.
  • Review and analyze digital and analog hardware designs: part selection, schematic entry, layout, timing, signal integrity, derating, power consumption, test.
  • Design printed circuit boards for new products, such as RFID reader, IOT devices, and accessories boards.
  • Validate and trouble-shoot prototypes and production builds. Generate related test reports documenting compliance to project specifications.
  • Guide development of hardware test procedures for manufacturing.
  • Co-develop hardware with Firmware Engineers and FPGA Design Engineers and assist in board bring up.
  • Support sustaining activities with EOL or part shortages on existing products.
  • Support test activities with existing and new products.

PCB Design - Analog/Digital Circuits, Microprocessor, FPGA, DSP, Embedded System Design.
  • RF Layout Design methods, Placement & Routing.
  • Through Hole and Surface Mount technology.
  • IPC Standards for Footprint Creation and Layout process.
  • Hands-on experience in designing high-speed, multilayer PCB designs.
  • Generation of Gerber data and all necessary fabrication files.
  • Create PCB footprints from manufacturers' datasheets and maintain component library.
  • Work with vendors and internal design and manufacturing teams to optimize material and manufacturing costs.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to optimize packaging, thermal, and electrical performance.
  • Independently interpret electrical standards such as IEC, CSA, and UL (as pertaining to PCB design) and successfully implement in designs. DRC and Post-processing (Gerber Settings, FAB & Assembly files generation).

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineer
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in high-density analog, digital, UHF, and mixed-signal PCB layout.
  • Working experience with DSP, microcontrollers, and microprocessors reference designs and development kits.
  • Working experience with memory devices and technologies - SRAM, SDRAM, DDR, Flash, eMMC.
  • Working experience with peripheral interfaces, such as RS232/485, Ethernet, USB, I2C, SPI, LVDS.
  • Technician who has accomplished PCBA board bring-up and troubleshooting of errors, using oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with PLM (Product Lifecyle Management tools). Experience with Omnify Empower PLM is a plus.
  • IPC CID certified.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, especially with regard to ECAD/MCAD interface and the use of STEP, DXF, IGES etc. files.
  • Experience with optimal layout for EMI minimization.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of industry standards for PCB design, fabrication, assembly, and testing, as well as common DFM/DFT practices.
  • Familiarity with UL, EMC, RoHS, REACH, and WEEE compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to express ideas clearly.
  • Driven to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments with limited supervision.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Siemens PADS Professional Layout and PADS Logic CAD tools.

Job Type: Full-Time - Exempt
Pay: $100,000 - $120,000
