Job description

Company Description
The Module Engineering Technician provides hands-on execution support to the Module Product Engineering and Test Engineering teams in Tempe, AZ. This role directly supports PE/TE engineers focused on New Product Introduction (NPI) for advanced power modules, with occasional support to sustaining engineering activities.
This is a hands-on execution role. The technician will collect data, build fixtures and cabling, rework PCBs, debug test setups, calibrate testers, coordinate module sample logistics, execute customer sample testing, support module electrical debug, and maintain a clean and organized engineering workspace.
The ideal candidate is a semiconductor-experienced technician who is comfortable at the bench, works well with engineers, and has board rework and fixture construction experience.
Renesas Electronics, a leading global semiconductor company, is rapidly scaling its AI-focused power delivery business. Products include high-performance digital power VRMs, multiphase controllers, Smart Power Stages (SPS), Vertical Power Stages (SPS with integrated capacitors and multiple silicon die), Power Towers (power modules integrating multiple SPS-equivalents with capacitors and inductors), and power MOSFETs.
Job Description
  • Collect characterization, debug, and validation data on module engineering samples in support of PE/TE engineers
  • Build test fixtures, cabling, and harnesses required for engineering evaluation and debug
  • Perform tester calibration checks and coordinate calibration recovery as needed to keep engineering setups ready
  • Coordinate module sample logistics, including receiving, labeling, tracking, packaging, and shipping of engineering samples between Tempe, sister sites, OSATs, and customers
  • Perform PCB rework including through-hole soldering, SMT rework, board modification, and repair to support engineering hardware readiness
  • Debug engineering test setups, isolate hardware issues, and support engineers in identifying setup vs. device-under-test failures
  • Support module-level electrical debug activities including bench measurements, probing, thermal imaging, and instrumentation setup
  • Prepare and package module samples for failure analysis send-out, ensuring proper labeling, traceability, and documentation
  • Execute customer sample testing under engineering direction, including handling, preparation, measurement, and reporting
  • Maintain 5S standards and general workspace cleanliness across engineering benches, fixture storage, and sample handling areas
  • Follow ESD, safety, and material handling requirements

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Technology, or related technical field preferred but not required
  • 3-5 years of hands-on technician experience in a semiconductor engineering, test, product engineering, or module engineering environment
  • Strong soldering skills
  • Cable and harness build experience
  • Comfortable operating bench-scale thermal chambers
  • Comfortable operating thermal cameras / IR imaging equipment
  • Able to read schematics and interpret board layouts
  • Strong organization and follow-through on sample tracking and documentation
  • Comfortable working directly with engineers and switching between tasks based on priority
