You'll have the opportunity to grow, innovate, and be a part of an inclusive team that celebrates both individual and collective achievements. If you're ready to elevate your career and help us deliver exceptional experiences to our customers, apply today and make your mark with Panduit!

Join a collaborative engineering team where your technical expertise will directly support cutting-edge product development and high-priority engineering programs. The Advanced Electronics Lab Technician role is primarily focused on hands-on PCB assembly, SMT and through-hole soldering, fine-pitch rework, PCB repair, inspection, and engineering prototype support. You will build, modify, repair, inspect, and troubleshoot prototype hardware while working closely with engineers to bring new designs to life.

Approximately 80% of the role is hands-on PCB assembly, soldering, rework, repair, inspection, and prototype modification, with the remaining 20% supporting engineering testing, troubleshooting, lab readiness, documentation, and PCB supplier coordination.

What You Will Do

  • Assemble and rework prototype PCBs using manual SMT and through-hole soldering, desoldering, component placement, and microscope-based fine-pitch rework, including 100+ pin TQFPs, QFNs, LGAs, BGAs, fine-pitch connectors, small passive components, and mixed assemblies.
  • Repair and modify prototype PCBs through component replacement, jumper-wire installation, trace cuts and repairs, pad repairs, connector replacement, and other PCB-level modifications supporting engineering development and debugging.
  • Build, test, troubleshoot, clean, and repair prototype PCB assemblies, wire harnesses, cables, fixtures, and electronic systems; support prototype bring-up, system integration, design verification, validation, interoperability testing, failure analysis, and debugging.
  • Inspect prototype and supplier-built PCB assemblies for solder quality, component alignment, workmanship, placement and polarity errors, solder bridges, opens, shorts, contamination, board damage, and other electrical or visual defects; communicate assembly, rework, and manufacturability issues to engineering and operations.
  • Operate electronics laboratory and rework equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, signal generators, microscopes, soldering stations, hot-air tools, and PCB rework equipment.
  • Document hardware modifications, inspection findings, rework activities, test results, and engineering issues while maintaining accurate technical records.
  • Coordinate PCB fabrication and contract manufacturing activities, including supplier communication, documentation, quotations, schedules, material tracking, receiving, and issue resolution.
  • Support prototype schedules and laboratory readiness by coordinating priorities across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, shipping, and operations; managing prototype hardware, components, tools, equipment, inventory, calibration, and maintenance.
  • Identify manufacturing, inspection, and test risks while supporting DFMEA/PFMEA activities and continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with ESD, electrical safety, quality, workmanship, laboratory, and company standards while supporting external testing, manufacturing, and customer activities as needed.

What You Will Bring

  • Education: Associate's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology or related technical field required; or equivalent combination of education, technical training, industry experience, and certifications in lieu of degree.
  • Certifications: IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721, or equivalent soldering and workmanship certification preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in electronics assembly, PCB soldering and rework, PCB testing, prototype development, electronics manufacturing, engineering laboratory support, or related technical work.
  • PCB Skills: Hands-on SMT and through-hole soldering, desoldering, microscope-based fine-pitch PCB rework, PCB assembly and inspection, component replacement, jumper-wire installation, trace and pad repairs, connector replacement, PCB modification and repair, and basic PCB troubleshooting. Experience working with TQFPs, QFNs, LGAs, BGAs, fine-pitch connectors, small passive components, and mixed SMT/through-hole assemblies preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read schematics and assembly documentation and use common electronics laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, signal generators, microscopes, soldering stations, hot-air tools, and PCB rework equipment.
