Cleared Senior Software Engineer - Python
Bestgate Engineering is seeking a Software Engineer to support the development of advanced cyber sensor and analytic modernization capabilities. This position is ideal for a cleared engineer with a strong background in network analysis and Python scripting who is ready to contribute to a high-impact mission.
**Up to 60% telework is available.**
What You Will Be Doing:
  • Leading analytic software development efforts supporting cyber defense initiatives.
  • Writing scripts and automation tools using Python for network analysis, parsing, and data enrichment.
  • Parsing protocol and file formats and developing analytic fingerprints and plugins for Agency tools.
  • Analyzing passive network traffic (e.g., pcap) with tools such as Wireshark.
  • Applying deep knowledge of common network protocols (TCP, UDP, ICMP, HTTP, SMTP, SSH).
  • Supporting secure and scalable analytic solutions in mission-critical environments.
  • Collaborating with other engineers and stakeholders to modernize cyber capabilities.
Required Skills:
  • 20+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, including work on analytic or cyber systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for scripting, data manipulation, and integration tasks.
  • Understanding of network exploitation techniques and associated analysis tools.
  • Experience analyzing packet capture (pcap) data with passive tools such as Wireshark.
  • Ability to identify and parse network protocols and file formats for use in analytic workflows.
  • Familiarity with developing analytic fingerprints and plugins for Agency processing systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

Salary Range:
$190,000 - $230,000
