Equipment Setup and Test Technician
Responsibilities
  • Position will set up and perform manual, automated, and environmental performance testing on Smurfit Westrock equipment based on applicable packaging test standards while following strict timelines
  • Performance of these tests must be precise, with the monitoring of test controls, effective documentation, and communication of the results both verbally and with formal test reports
  • Individuals will collect dimensional measurements on mechanical and electronic measurement equipment and document appropriately
  • Other responsibilities include the ability to oversee and maintain the condition, maintenance, orderliness, and calibration of the Testing Department
  • Generate detailed, accurate reports that will be used to make key business decisions on a range of Smurfit Westrock packaged product lines
  • Self-starter in completing daily testing and reporting and ability to multi-task

What You Need to Succeed:
  • 2 + years of experience in mechanical assembly operations
  • Able to read Blueprints and technical drawings
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations
  • Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision
  • Willing to learn modern technologies, equipment, and procedures through on-the-job training
  • Support design, construction and calibration of new and existing test fixtures and equipment
  • Moderate PC skills, i.e., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft apps
  • Technical degree is a plus, but not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Can work Additional overtime and 10-to-12-hour shifts if required
