Job Description 

Description of position:
Operates and maintains power equipment such as clamp or fork sit-down lift truck and electric pallet jack to move and prepare goods in/out of the depot.

Daily tasks and responsibilities:

  • Operates clamp or fork sit-down lift truck to unload trailers and palletize floor-loaded goods. Transfers pallets of received goods to shipping lanes set up by warehouse or to other areas of the depot. Transfers empty pallet stacks within the depot. 
  • Operates electric pallet jack to move pallets of received goods to shipping lanes or to other areas of the depot.
  • Operates fork sit-down lift truck to load delivery trailers. Scans outgoing goods as loaded to generate computerized shipping manifest. Completes all shipping documents according to Costco procedures.
  • Hand stacks unpalleted goods for efficient use of trailer space. Maximizes cube space and distributes weight evenly over trailer axles.
  • Inspects condition of goods for quality, safety and stability. Secures goods on pallets with shrink wrap and labels for shipping. Verifies that the pallets being used are to Costco standards.
  • Informs managers of any discrepancies or problems.
  • Monitors power equipment and conducts daily inspections. Exchanges and inspects power equipment batteries. 
  • Cleans up and clears work area of any debris or trip hazards. Follows safety procedures.
  • Counts, and logs incoming and out going pallets.  Loads and unloads trailers of pallets using manual and electric pallet jacks and power lift trucks. 
  • Provides prompt, courteous member service

Non-Essential Functions and Tasks:

  • Assists in other departments of the depot as necessary.  

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates should possess):

  • Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Costco Food Safety Certification - Level 1 required. Costco Power Equipment Operator certification required within 30 days.
  • Experience:  Previous forklift driver experience required.
  • Knowledge/Skills:  None
  • Other:
