Job description

Western Engineering Co Inc is seeking skilled Asphalt Equipment Operator's to join our team. In this vital role, you will have the opportunity to operate various types of asphalt paving equipment including pavers, rollers and skid loaders. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will help us maintain our reputation for delivering top-notch work on every project. As part of our crew, you will work collaboratively with other equipment operators, laborers, and foremen to ensure efficient operations on site. If you have experience in construction, are passionate about heavy machinery, and seek to further develop your skills in asphalt operations, we invite you to bring your talents to our team!
Responsibilities
  • Operate asphalt paving equipment effectively
  • Monitor and adjust the equipment's settings to achieve the optimal asphalt pavement results
  • Perform pre-operational inspections of the equipment and troubleshoot any issues before and during operating
  • Coordinate with crew members to ensure efficient workflow and safe practices on site
  • Communicate effectively with foremen and project managers regarding project needs and conditions
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following all safety policies and regulations
  • Assist in the setup and teardown of work sites as necessary.

Requirements
  • Previous experience operating asphalt paving equipment is preferred
  • Strong understanding of asphalt paving principles and practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively
  • Physical stamina to handle outdoor work and operate heavy machinery
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to different job sites in Iowa and Nebraska
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve issues as they arise
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening.
