Paving Operator
 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Paving Operator in our Asphalt division. The paving operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating asphalt paving equipment to place, level, and finish pavement according to project specifications. They monitor mat thickness, asphalt flow, and compaction, coordinate with the paving crew, perform routine equipment checks, and ensure strict adherence to safety and quality standards on highway projects

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Skilled in operating pavers, rollers, and related paving machinery to achieve smooth, durable asphalt surfaces
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans, grades, and layout markings accurately
  • Monitor asphalt placement, mat thickness, and compaction to maintain high-quality results
  • Coordinate effectively with rollers, screed operators, and lutemen to optimize production efficiency
  • Perform daily equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor troubleshooting
  • Adhere strictly to highway safety regulations, traffic control plans, and job site protocols
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to producing precise, long-lasting pavement while supporting the paving crew
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience operating asphalt paving equipment on highway or large-scale projects
  • Travel Requirements: Daily travel required, Must have reliable transportation
  • Proven ability to operate pavers, rollers, and associated equipment safely and efficiently
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt paving techniques, mat thickness, compaction, and quality control
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans, grade stakes, and layout markings accurately
  • Skilled at coordinating with crew members, including screed operators and lutemen, to maintain production flow
  • Knowledge of routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive care
  • Commitment to job site safety, including adherence to traffic control and OSHA protocols
  • Reliable, punctual, and dedicated to producing high-quality, durable pavement

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
