Job description


Position Title: Paving III

Department: Paving

Location: Athens, AL

Essential Job Functions:

  • Operate paving machines/skid steers
  • Experience as a milling ground operator
  • Operate various types of shovels, including hand shovels and mechanical shovels, to perform digging, scooping, and material handling tasks
  • Perform tasks such as leveling ground, creating trenches, or clearing debris as required by project specifications
  • Use rakes to level, spread, and smooth materials such as gravel
  • Assist in creating and maintaining paving features
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including disposing of waste materials and ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored
  • Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans
  • Maintain a high level of quality work at all times
  • Maintain good relationships with Technicians, Foreman, Superintendents, Inspectors, Developers, and other co-workers at all times
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work tasks
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Represent and promote Grayson Carter and Son in a professional and honest manner

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate and convey information effectively
  • Must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift 75 pounds
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards
  • Ability to obtain Arsenal and FBI Badge preferred, but not required
  • Dependable transportation
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on all job sites as required
  • Work weekends and overtime as needed
  • Committed to attending work each day
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
