Requirements
The Upholsterer Lead is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the flow of materials, components, and work-in-process (WIP) throughout the manufacturing process. This lead-level role ensures production schedules are met by proactively identifying delays, resolving bottlenecks, and communicating across departments such as cutting, sewing, upholstery, assembly, and shipping. The Upholsterer Lead also serves as a technical resource for upholstery cover fit and construction, utilizing pattern-making and pattern-altering expertise to ensure quality standards are met.
Responsibilities
  • Track and prioritize production orders to ensure on-time completion.
  • Monitor workflow across departments (cutting, sewing, upholstery, assembly, and finishing).
  • Expedite materials, parts, and information to prevent production delays.
  • Identify bottlenecks and collaborate with supervisors to resolve production issues quickly.
  • Communicate daily with production, scheduling, and shipping teams regarding order status.
  • Ensure all required materials, fabrics, and components are available at each stage of production.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and inventory to address material shortages.
  • Update production systems, trackers, and reports with accurate status information.
  • Assist in adjusting production schedules to meet changing customer demands and priorities.
  • Perform quality inspections of upholstery covers to verify proper construction, fit, and appearance.
  • Evaluate upholstery cover fit and determine necessary adjustments to ensure products meet company quality standards.
  • Create, modify, and alter upholstery patterns as needed to improve fit, functionality, and manufacturability.
  • Serve as a lead resource by providing technical guidance and support to sewing and upholstery team members on pattern interpretation, cover construction, and fit-related issues.
  • Work closely with engineering, product development, and production teams to resolve design and manufacturing challenges.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous quality inspection or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read work instructions, specifications, and basic drawings
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Ability to use inspection tools and equipment
  • Good communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
