Position Summary


The Nurse Practitioner will provide occupational health and primary care support services for Department of State employees and trainees in Blackstone, Virginia. The position will provide evaluation and treatment for work-related injuries, acute illnesses, and urgent medical concerns, with a primary focus on occupational medicine and employee health services. The Nurse Practitioner will provide occupational surveillance services, including audiograms, blood lead testing, fitness-for-duty examinations, vaccinations, and medical screenings in accordance with OSHA and Department of State requirements. The role will also provide emergency triage, coordinate referrals when appropriate, maintain accurate medical records, and support workers’ compensation processes and clinical protocols. The position requires an active Virginia Nurse Practitioner license, current BLS certification, and primary care experience. Occupational health experience is preferred.



Core Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational health and primary care support services for Department of State employees and trainees
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage work-related injuries and acute illnesses
  • Provide urgent and emergent patient evaluation and triage services
  • Conduct occupational surveillance examinations, including audiograms, blood testing, and lead exposure physicals
  • Perform fitness-for-duty examinations and medical screenings
  • Administer vaccinations in accordance with Department of State requirements
  • Coordinate referrals and handoffs for emergent or specialized care when appropriate
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical documentation and records
  • Support workers’ compensation processes and occupational health protocols
  • Collaborate with clinic staff and administrative personnel to ensure continuity of care and effective communication
  • Follow established clinical guidelines, protocols, and standard operating procedures
  • Provide input regarding clinical process improvements and occupational health best practices
Requirements:
  • Active Virginia Nurse Practitioner license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of two years of primary care experience required
  • Minimum of one year of occupational health experience preferred
  • Experience evaluating and treating work-related injuries and acute illnesses
  • Ability to perform occupational health screenings and medical surveillance examinations
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and occupational health protocols preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment, triage, and emergency response skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation and records
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident


This job is CONTINGENT upon contract award, client approval, completion of a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / High Risk clearance.
