Job description

Sound Physicians is seeking a patient-first Emergency Medicine Physician to join their team at Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, AZ. This role offers the opportunity to practice alongside a collaborative care team across Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, and Critical Care, ensuring seamless transitions and improved patient outcomes. The position emphasizes clinical judgment, professional growth, and making a tangible difference in a supportive, family-oriented environment.

Practice Info

  • Join Canyon Vista Medical Center's close-knit team of eight physicians and five advanced practice providers (APPs).
  • Work alongside a diverse group of clinicians who bring a variety of geographic, educational, and training backgrounds.
  • Many team members actively participate in hospital committees, such as the medical executive committee, and lead initiatives to improve patient care and update order sets.
  • Accountable, on-site leadership: a local medical director who knows the community and owns the department's performance, supported by Sound's leadership-development tools.
  • Stable, well-staffed teams: cohesive teams aligned on a patient-first culture of excellence, which means less reliance on premium temp labor and more predictable shifts.
  • Provide care in a smaller, community-based hospital with a level III trauma designation and a 24-bed Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a variety of emergency cases.
  • Collaborate closely with Sound’s hospital medicine team to ensure a seamless transition of care.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary environment supported by 24/7 specialty coverage, including cardiology with a cath lab, general surgery, obstetrics, orthopedics with spine care, neurology (with telestroke support), psychiatry (with an on-site inpatient behavioral health unit), oncology, and nephrology with dialysis capabilities in the ICU.

Compensation

  • Rewarding 1099 compensation structure.

Shift & Schedule

  • Physician coverage 24 hrs a day (2, 12-hour shifts) plus 12-hour fellowship coverage a day.

Requirements

  • Board-certified/eligible in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine/Internal Medicine with 3 years of Emergency Medicine experience.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
