Job description

The Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring smooth front-desk operations within a small team of 1-2 receptionists. Reporting to the Practice Manager, this position handles appointment scheduling, patient check-ins, medical records management using EHR software, and insurance verification. The role requires frequent patient interaction and a commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance. The Medical Receptionist also supports billing processes and phone communications, and participates in a rotating Saturday clinic schedule from 8-11 AM.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments accurately
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures efficiently
  • Maintain medical records and update EHR system securely
  • Verify patient insurance information and eligibility
  • Answer telephone calls and manage communications professionally
  • Support billing and insurance claim processes
  • Deliver excellent customer service to patients and visitors
  • Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality standards
  • Perform accurate data entry and information management
  • Participate in rotating Saturday clinic coverage from 8-11 AM/meaning there is ample opportunity for overtime in this position

Required Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in a medical receptionist role
  • I would really like to take someone from another practice that has multiple skills and is not compensated for those skill, and move them to our practice with a pay increase.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) software/Athena
  • Experience in appointment scheduling and telephone etiquette
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to multitask
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
